Louth County Council welcomes the news that Martin McElligott will remain in his role as Dundalk Town Centre Commercial Manager, recognising the significant impact he has made through the Dundalk Business Improvement District Scheme (BIDS) over the past decade.
Since its establishment, Dundalk BIDS has played a pivotal role in revitalising the town centre, supporting local businesses and delivering a wide range of initiatives and events, including Frostival, Northern Lights and the Seek Urban Arts Festival.
Under Martin’s leadership, the scheme has also driven projects such as the Facades initiative and EPSO, while helping to transform vacancy levels in key areas, including Clanbrassil Street, from over 50% to just 4%.
Cllr Andrea McKevitt, Cathaoirleach of Dundalk Municipal District, welcomed the news, saying: “Martin’s commitment to Dundalk has been clear in everything he has done, working closely with businesses, community groups and stakeholders to bring energy and life back into the town centre. The progress achieved in recent years has been significant, and it is very positive news that he will remain in post to help guide the next phase of development. I wish him every continued success in the role.”
David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, added: “Martin has made an outstanding contribution to Dundalk over the past 10 years. Through his work with BIDS, we have seen real, measurable progress in the town centre, from improved occupancy levels to the delivery of high-quality events and public realm initiatives that have enhanced Dundalk’s appeal. I welcome his decision to continue in the role, and we look forward to building on our strong partnership in the years ahead.”
