An Táin Arts Centre has unveiled its September – December 2026 programme, offering audiences an exciting mix of theatre, music, comedy, film, family entertainment and visual art.
With a vibrant mix of local, national, and international talent, the packed programme promises something for audiences of all ages.
Culture Night returns to An Táin Arts Centre on Friday, 18th September, with a full programme of free events. Audiences can enjoy everything from live music and cabaret to film, dance performances and creative workshops for all ages.
From comedy and cabaret to drama and live performance, there is plenty to look forward to this season, with highlights including Shirley Valentine, Love Hungry Farmer and The Misfits Gala by Kismet Theatre Company, An Táin Arts Centre’s Company in Residence 2026/2027.
Theatre highlights include The Big House by Conor McGinnity, Work is the Curse of the Drinking Classes, and Chronicles by Nicola Cassidy, which is a special commission by An Táin Arts Centre.
Paul Hayes, Director of An Táin Arts Centre, say “With 55 events to choose from, this will be our biggest programme ever. I’m particularly excited to be directing the world premiere of Chronicles by Nicola Cassidy, which tells the story of C.S. Lewis and his time in County Louth.”
There is plenty on offer for younger audiences and families too, including the return of Megaslam and Little Red Riding Hood’s Christmas Adventure. The annual Christmas Double Bill will also provide a festive afternoon of entertainment, combining a creative family workshop with a special screening of The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Music fans can look forward to an eclectic selection of live performances, including appearances by ConTempo Quartet, Ralph McTell, Leslie & Flo, and local singer/songwriter Sinéad McNally.
For something a little different, National Theatre Live presents Playboy of the Western World, K.M. Synge’s celebrated play exploring youth and self-discovery, with Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan among the cast. The production will be screened on the big screen at An Táin Arts Centre.
An Táin Arts Centre’s Film Club offers a handpicked selection of afternoon and evening screenings, with upcoming titles including Rental Family, Once Upon a Time in Cinema, and Hokum, arriving just in time for Halloween.
The Basement Gallery continues to showcase a programme of free exhibitions throughout the year. Upcoming exhibitions include Watch Until The End by Emerging Visual Artist in Residence Emma Ray, Bailú, a group exhibition featuring artists from the Creative Spark Residency Programme, and Against The Odds by artist Rosemary Warren.
