Dundalk Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the Town Council’s decision to once again offer Christmas shoppers the bonus of half price parking. This means that up to the 4th January an hour’s parking is 50 cent!!.
Paddy Mathews President of the Chamber and BIDS representative Fiona Cunningham both believe that this will boost business in the town both before Christmas and in the important post-Christmas sales.
Speaking at the launch Paddy stressed the need for us all to support each other by spending money locally this Christmas and in general. The theme chosen by the Town Council was “Shop Local”. If we all spend money in local shops it creates jobs in those shops. The employees can and will then spend their wages in Dundalk which generates more jobs.
The town has really got into the swing of Christmas this year with the phenomenal Santa run last week organised by the Chamber which will be followed up next week by the Charity lunch. Jimmy Cummiskey has made an appeal for all Santa run money to be returned as soon as possible. The Town Council, Chamber and BIDS would ask that we all look out for our neighbours this season, particularly if it is cold.
