Education

• Every year in excess of 2,000 17-19 year olds graduate from Dundalk’s secondary schools - educated to the Leaving Certificate standard.
• Dundalk has a higher proportion of persons under the age of 14 years and in the 15-24 bracket compared to the state.  This points to a potential future expansion in Dundalk’s labour force
• Dundalk’s Institute of Technology has brought a raft of new student residents to the gateway town.  Its 90 acre campus hosts a student population of over 3,000 full-time and 2,000 part-time students studying areas such as Engineering, Science, computing, Business, Accounting, Hospitality Studies and Humanities.
• Dundalk is located just 100km (60miles) away from 6 of Ireland’s leading Universities giving it access to up to 70,000 graduates
• Fás – Ireland’s Employment and Training Authority - offers a wide range of training and educational courses to the local workforce through its North East regional centre here in Dundalk.  It runs special programmes for individuals and industry to improve the skills of new and existing employees through the provision of grants and training support initiatives.
