Transport

It's never been easier to get here, to travel from here or to get around here!  Whatever way you want to travel, Dundalk is close at hand and has great transport facilities.

Airports

Dundalk is advantageously positioned close to two international airports – with Dublin Airport and Belfast International Airport less than an hour’s drive from here and Belfast City Airport just over an hour’s drive.  All airports provide flights all over Ireland, the UK, Europe and worldwide.

Public Transport

Dundalk is well-served by public transport - bus and rail, public and private.

Bus Éireann operates frequent ‘Expressway’ and regular services from Dublin and Ulsterbus operates frequent services from Belfast, Derry and all of Northern Ireland. A number of private bus companies also operate services to and from Dundalk.

Irish Rail operates frequent ‘Enterprise’, Inter-City and regular services on the Dublin/Belfast line with a main line station at Dundalk and NI Railways operates frequent ‘Enterprise’ services on the Belfast/Dublin line with a main line station at Dundalk.

Matthews Coaches
offers commuters from Dundalk a comfortable and affordable way of travelling between Dublin , Drogheda and Dundalk with its Dublin Commuter Routes with fares as little as €7. The company also offers a door-to-door coach hire service to any airport or ferry port in the island of Ireland.

Roads

Dundalk is reached via the brand new motorway from Dublin right through to Newry, Northern Ireland. Works to be completed by 2010 on the remaining 12.7km of single carriageway at Newry will see a motorway from Dublin right through to Belfast.

Dundalk itself has an excellent roads system – ones on which you can actually drive your car, not just sit in traffic getting stressed out like you would in the cities! A lot of people also choose to walk or cycle to work and there are a number of cycle routes around the town.
