Dundalk Institute of Technology
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is a 90 acre campus located in Dundalk that offers a huge range of courses on a full-time, part-time or evening basis. The college has four schools:
DkIT also has research centres in the following areas: Entrepreneurship, Software Technology, Smooth Muscle, Renewable Energy and Freshwater Studies. The Institute also plays a key role in the economic, social and cultural development of the region and the Regional Development Centre, Cross Border Centre for Community Development and Lifelong Learning Centre provide support to the business and general community.
DkIT features a crèche, gym, health unit, bank, bar, restaurant, coffee bars, shop, theatre, careers office, chaplaincy team, counselling service and on-campus accommodation. The college also has a students’ union and an extensive number of clubs and societies.
The campus has undergone enormous change over the last number of years. In 2005 it became one of the first urban locations to have an industrial standard wind turbine (850kw) installed. It is the first large wind turbine in the world to be constructed on the campus of a third level institution.

From Dundalk there is also easy access to universities in both Dublin and Belfast as both cities are both only 84km away linked by the M1, with regular bus, coach and rail services to both:
