E-mail Print PDF

A former gaol, this building was donated to Comhaltas by the Louth County Council. The building has undergone extensive adaptations, and you can look forward to a warm welcome when you visit.

The building serves as a Regional Cultural Centre for the north eastern region serving the counties of Louth, Cavan, Monaghan, Meath and Armagh.  The primary focus of the Centre is the support and development of traditional arts initiatives within the region as well as strengthening the work of Comhaltas within the region.

Development of the Centre was resourced by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism, Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and through the support of Louth County Council. The centre features:

  • Classrooms
  • Archive
  • Bar
  • Restaurant/Café
  • Shop

Facilities within the Centre are also available to local groups, organisations, and businesses as well as schools within the region. The Oriel Cultural Centre combines the role of a cultural resource centre, a visitor attraction as well as a social and a performance space.
