Dundalk and its surrounding areas offer some of the best bird watching locations in Ireland. Dundalk Bay is the single most important site in the State for overwintering migratory birds. More waterbirds (waders, ducks, geese etc) spend each winter on Dundalk Bay than anywhere else in Ireland (the 26 county state at least).

Carlingford Adventure Centre offers over twenty land and water activities. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking, archery and many more.

The Cooley Peninsula is a hilly peninsula in County Louth, which includes towns such as Omeath, Carlingford and Greenore. It is 20 minutes drive from Dundalk Town.

Dundalk Kayak Club (DKC) is a non profit organisation and was formed in 2005 to cater for the demand of the sport to the local area. Since then and with the assistance of it’s committed members it has become a well respected part of the Kayaking world in Ireland and a club for Dundalk to call their own.

Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Trekking Centre is situated in the heart of Ravensdale, just 10 minutes drive from historic Carlingford and an ideal location for trekking and horse riding.  Nestled in beautiful countryside close to picturesque woods steeped in history and folklore, the centre enjoys an idyllic location against a backdrop of the Cooley Mountains.

The main swimming pool in Dundalk (there are others) is located right next door to the local authorities offices at the Millennium Centre, St. Alphonsus Road. Open from as early as 7am, you can always go for a swim while in Dundalk!
